The Payne Theological Seminary and A.M.E. Archive at Princeton Theological Commons

At just two weeks into the new gig, I'm already traveling for business.

The Princeton Theological Seminary team graciously hosted the Payne Theological Seminary Digitization Team at the new James Lenox Library on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. The meeting provided an opportunity for the Payne team to meet Princeton library and Internet Archive staff and discuss the launch of the Payne portal in the PTS Theological Commons.

Payne was afforded the opportunity to see first hand the Internet Archive scanning process. A  sampling of products from the Payne archive was digitized during the visit. It was decided that the initial launch of the Payne portal will include existing internet archive materials related to the A.M.E. denomination and a selection of Payne archive materials that showcase the breadth and depth of the holdings.

The materials I chose for the test included are a variety of formats: blueprints, cursive handwritten manuscripts (with transcribed Word Document), fragile books, bulletins, archival correspondence, photographs pamphlets and serial publications.
